We have developed a thin layer structure in which minute flow-channels and reaction cells are formed on a porosity membrane processed to have special water-repellent property, and have established the technology that enables the measuring and sending of a sample by using a simple pressurizing operation. Using this technology, we have developed a compact and portable device, only 800 grams in weight. The system that simultaneously measures 7 biochemistry test parameters is now avaible for purchase. In addition, we are now developing a new system that can measure 20 parameters simultaneously with 50 microliter of whole blood. We plan to launch this new product by the end of 2012. |

We have found the normal pattern of tongue pressure production in young and elderly by using an original ultra-thin sensor sheet system, and are investigating the pathological change of deglutitive tongue movement in dysphagic patients with cerebrovascular diseases, neuromuscular diseases and oral cancers, as well as the influence of food texture, head posture and prosthetic devices on tongue pressure production during swallowing. In the near future, results of these investigations can be expected to provide useful information about the patho-physiology of tongue motor deficits, verification of treatment in rehabilitation, and food design for dysphagic patients. |

Our research is related to computer vision and pattern recongniation for medical images, such as CT and MR etc., Our reseach focus are on computer assisted diagnostic (CAD) system, which consists of three modules: database module (statistical atlas of human anatomy), image processing module (image enhancement, image segmentation, image registration), and visualization module (volume rendering). In the processing module, we proposed a new liver segmentation method from low contrast CT volumes and developed an interactive visualization system for liver and its vascular structure in the visualization module. |
