Even an inch height step is hazardous for wheel chairs. Specially designed casters for wheel chairs which can surmount a three inch step has been developed . The applied link mechanism converts the inertial force to efficiently lift up the force. Variably configured wheel chairs with parallel or cross link frames are currently in development. The geometry of the frame is adjustable in order to keep it stable on the uneven height steps of an escalator. |
