Using various techniques such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and systematic biology, we investigate the metabolism of how plant biomass resources are created and degraded. Based on this knowledge, we carry out the development of crops and trees with higher biofuel conversion efficiency, lumber with higher durability, and environmental cleaning technology via bacteria. |

Stress Measurement Research Group
Shinichi Wakida (Research Group Leader)
|
To make the monitoring of human health and/or stress more convenient, we have focused on research and development on a microfluidic biosensing system, especially electrophoretic microfluidics as well as centrifugal microfluidics, using micro TAS technology for 10 years since the establishment of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in 2000. We have investigated many prototypes of microfluidic biosensing systems for health/stress monitoring. |
