Outline

Factory Tour:
Visitors will tour the factory and exhibition room, where we provide introductions of the characteristics of wood and the traditional techniques passed down through generations of Shrine carpenters.

Lecture:
An overview of Kongo Gumi, including the long history and the key factors contributing to the longevity.

Carpentry Demonstration:and Experience:
A live kanna (Japanese hand plane) demonstration by a Shrine carpenter, allowing some of the visitors to experience by themselves.

Commemorative Gift:
Each participant will receive a handcrafted Masu(wooden sake cup), hand made by a master Shrine carpenter as a commemorative gift.

Access

• From Kintetsu Tondabayashi Station, take a Kintetsu Bus from the “Tondabayashi Station Mae” bus stop and get off at “Mokuzai Danchi Naka”. It is approximately a 4-minute walk from the bus stop.
  Please note that bus services are very limited, so we recommend coming by car or taking a taxi directly from Kintetsu Tondabayashi Station.

• Parking is available around the factory premises (including space for large buses).

• Visiting hours: Weekdays only, 13:30–16:00
  *Only one group per day can be accommodated; advance reservation is required.

  *For groups exceeding 30 people, approximately 2.5 hours is recommended.

Admission fee

• Up to 10 people: Flat fee of JPY 150,000 (tax excluded)
• More than 10 people: JPY 15,000 (tax excluded) per person
