Nakano BC, a sake brewery located in Wakayama Prefecture, produces and sells various alcoholic beverages, including plum liquor made from the local specialty Nanko plums, as well as sake and shochu.
Nakano BC offers brewery tours that include an introduction to the sake-making process, a stroll through a three-thousand-tsubo Japanese garden, and experiences in making plum liquor and plum syrup.
We visited the facility and experienced making plum liquor!
Following the instructional video, fill the bottles with the necessary ingredients.
Measure the amount and pour the white liquor into the bottle.
Close the bottle lid, and when you finally attach a label with the date and your name, it's complete!
You can actually drink it six months after the experience, and in the meantime, you can carefully observe the process of the plum liquor developing in your own home.
The plums used are large, high-quality Nanko plums from Wakayama Prefecture. One of the great attractions of this experience is the opportunity to make your own plum liquor using these plums, which are not easily obtainable.
The program accommodates both small and large groups, and for larger groups, a spacious hall can be used, allowing up to about 80 people to experience making plum liquor simultaneously.
The process takes about 10 minutes, making participation very easy, so be sure to choose the experience package when you visit the sake brewery!
The instructional videos for the experience are available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Cantonese, actively welcoming foreign visitors from diverse regions.
Additionally, there are thoughtful considerations in place, such as varyious bottle sizes to make it easier for foreign guests to take their plum liquor home.
Please be sure to visit Nakano BC!
