Lacquer-ware making tools & lacquer work exhibit, lacquer-ware on sale, lacquer-ware maki-e experience.

Facility details / highlights

We have both an exhibit of lacquer-ware making tools & other materials and of lacquer work, and direct sales of lacquer-ware available at all times.
The “Maki-e Experience House” is open on Saturdays & Sundays (paid, reservation required).
You can also view a video introducing the history of the area and the production process.

Visit requirements

Please be advised that we do not have elevators installed (the maki-e experience is held on the 3rd floor)

Average visit length

Tour only, 30-40 minutes (the maki-e experience is 1-2 hours)

Admission fee

Only admission is free(Maki-e Experience:\2,000~\3,000)

Support in foreign languages

We can manage simple English, but if possible please visit together with an interpreter.

Materials in foreign languages

Brochure in English and Chinese. Kishu lacquer-ware video viewing (English language, around 20mins)
