Opened in the city of Nagahama, in Japan's Shiga Prefecture, the birthplace of Yanmar's founder Magokichi Yamaoka, the museum offers a wide range of interactive exhibits such as pleasure boat and mini excavator simulators, as well as workshops and hands-on agricultural activities on a field beside the museum, to deliver a truly unique experience. Attractions also include an explosive introductory movie that describes the workings of the diesel engine in an 13.5 meter wide circular theater, and a gallery of Yanmar engine greats. Intimately connected with people's lives, the museum showcases Yanmar's technology in pursuit of the evolution of food production and harnessing power in areas as diverse as agriculture, urban development, and fisheries.
