HOME > Efforts of the METI-Kansai Toward Carbon Neutrality
Last Update:October 18, 2024
To achieve carbon neutrality, it is essential for not only energy-related
companies and large corporations but also small and medium-sized enterprises
across various industries and regions to engage in decarbonization efforts.
In Kansai, with the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025 approaching, it is necessary
to leverage achievements in addressing environmental issues and the concentration
of environmental-related industries to develop and implement new technologies
and initiatives that reduce environmental impact.
We will work towards achieving carbon neutrality in Kansai through collaboration
with various stakeholders by promoting diverse projects aimed at improving
energy efficiency and facilitating the introduction of new energy technologies,
as well as ensuring the steady execution of many subsidy programs and regulations.
Hydrogen is an energy source that can be produced from a variety of resources, contributing to the reduction of energy supply and procurement risks in our country through domestic production and diversification of resource procurement from overseas. Additionally, hydrogen can be utilized as a carbon-free energy source by combining water electrolysis using renewable energy with technologies for the storage and reuse of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide.
METI-Kansai is working to promote the hydrogen-related industry by advancing the realization of a hydrogen society aimed at building a domestic hydrogen supply chain. Specifically, it is engaged in activities to promote entry into the hydrogen-related industry and expand its utilization. To facilitate hydrogen utilization by various entities, it collaborates with stakeholders such as companies, local governments, and research institutions.
- Events to promote interaction among stakeholders:
We hold events to facilitate business matching among hydrogen-related industries

achievements, and business plans of 35 companies.
“Hydrogen-Related Business in the Kansai Region” here!
- We collaborate with hydrogen supplier companies and present practical examples of hydrogen utilization in everyday life to foster enthusiasm for this technology in the Kansai region.
- We provide information on policies such as the "Hydrogen Society Promotion Act” to support the establishment of facilities related to the supply and utilization of hydrogen and other resources.
